The Florida Concrete Masonry Education Council (FCMEC) has submitted its 2025 Annual Report to Governor Ron DeSantis, providing an overview of the Council's activities, financial operations, workforce development initiatives, and industry outreach efforts during the 2025 calendar year. The report was submitted in accordance with Section 446.53, Florida Statutes.

Key Highlights from 2025

Block Strong Reaches Record Audiences

The Council continued its partnership with the Florida Concrete & Products Association (FC&PA) to support the Block Strong campaign, Florida's premier public education initiative promoting resilient construction. The campaign reached a record-setting 1.6 million website visitors during 2025 and generated millions of digital impressions through targeted messaging focused on hurricane preparedness, fire resistance, energy efficiency, and the long-term value of concrete block construction. Consumer research conducted during the year confirmed strong statewide preference for concrete block homes and reinforced public confidence in resilient building practices.

Workforce Development Continues to Expand

Through its partnership with Florida Masonry, Inc. (FM), the Council supported efforts to strengthen Florida's masonry workforce pipeline. Key accomplishments included the launch of new pre-apprenticeship programs, expansion of masonry clubs, workforce outreach events, SkillsUSA participation, instructor training on the updated NCCER curriculum, and ongoing collaboration with educational institutions, the Department of Corrections, and the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Education, Training, and Career Pathways

FM conducted multiple Masonry Construction and Inspection Certification Workshops during the year, awarding continuing education hours to industry professionals while promoting best practices in masonry construction and code compliance. New pre-apprenticeship opportunities were established, instructor training was completed at correctional institutions and schools statewide, and workforce placement efforts continued to connect Floridians with career opportunities in the masonry industry.

Industry Support and Strategic Leadership

The Council received approximately $2.1 million in voluntary producer contributions during the 2025 reporting period, with participating producers representing approximately 30 percent of Florida's concrete block manufacturing industry. The Council continued to advance its strategic priorities through workforce development, public education, industry partnerships, and oversight of initiatives designed to strengthen Florida's construction workforce and promote resilient building practices.

Looking Ahead

As the Council enters 2026, it remains committed to supporting workforce development, expanding educational opportunities, promoting resilient construction practices, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of Florida's concrete masonry industry. Through strong partnerships and strategic investments, FCMEC continues to help build a skilled workforce and stronger communities across the state.
